The Cats are Back!

Not sure if it is due to all the rain, but we have had numerous caterpillars in the garden.

Gulf Fritillary Caterpillar

Buckeye Caterpillar

Buckeye Caterpillar

Buckeye Butterfly Chrysalis

  1. What is your buckeye caterpillar on? I'm planning gardens and working on including host plants...

    1. Hi Kathleen,
The buckeye caterpillars are using Firecracker Fern (Russelia equisetiformis) as their host plant. I actually had no idea they would lay their eggs on this plant, but I guess since it is in the Russelia family, it works:) This is such a wonderful plant, drought tolerant, attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.
