The last few days have been rainy and cold, however there are little signs of Spring in the garden. For instance, the Oxalis are lush and in full bloom. The plant is a pass along from my Grandmother's garden. The bright pink blooms bring me so much joy and remind me of how my Grandmother loved gardening.

That's so awesome to have a plant from your grandmother. My Nana loved to garden as well, but she was more of a vegetable gardener. Hindsight being 20/20 it would have been great to have saved some seed from her vegetables, but I was a girly-girl teenager back then and not much interested in digging in the dirt. Funny how times change.
ReplyDeleteI was the same way when I was a teenager. Now, I would rather spend money on plants then at a shopping mall. You are right.... times have changed!
DeleteMy mother always grew oxalis. I don't have any pass a-longs from her. I do wish I did.
ReplyDeleteYours are beautiful...and, a wonderful memory, too.
Thank you! I only have three plants from my Grandmother's garden thanks to my Dad and Aunt who took transplants from her garden. I cherish them and think of her when I see them blooming.
DeleteSo sweet and such a treasure your oxalis is! My love for gardening comes from my maternal grandmother. My aunt, her daughter, is also an avid gardener and I love wandering her Louisiana garden. It's so different from my own. I hope that one of my kids ends up loving a garden too. My daughter has a love for nature so maybe it will manifest itself as a passion for gardening some day :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the love of gardening is definitely in your gene pool. How sweet that your daughter has a love for nature. Sounds like you passed down that gene to her:) How wonderful that you encouraged and nurtured that trait in her.
DeletePretty, pretty, pretty! I've decided I need some oxalis for my garden. I just love those sweet blooms and cute leaves.
ReplyDeleteThese plants multiple like crazy so you would only need a couple. They are pretty cute though and the leaves look like shamrocks which is perfect for St. Patrick's Day:)
DeleteVery cute little flowers! I love it when plants have a sentimental attachment- Gardenias will forever remind me of my Grandmothers garden.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Gardenias are so beautiful and smell amazing. What a wonderful memory:)
